The International WOW company presents The Expense of Spirit, written and directed by Josh Fox. One dinner party, 25 guests, 17,000 movies, and two West Point cadets on a thankless duty collide to become the latest battleground of the war in Iraq. Join Marty, neighborhood celebrity and proprietor of "Heights Video" in Brooklyn, for her annual Christmas Eve extravaganza. This year, Marty is waiting for her daughter, a GI stationed in Iraq, to call in for the holiday. There will be seafood lasagna, movie trivia, bungled flirtations, and dancing. But the phone isn't ringing. There is a gun under the counter. And there is something locked in the bathroom. The Expense of Spirit explores the rift between the mythology of war in the movies and the reality of combat, experienced on battlefields far from our communities. What happens when shock and awe leap off the screen and land directly in our living room?
