The Enchanted Stone, freely based on W.B. Yeats's "A Pot of Broth," is a serio-comic opera about a confrontation between a clever tramp and a miserly widow, building to a climax in which charity triumphs over selfishness.

The Hour Glass, freely based on images from Yeats's play of the same name, is a dream opera in which an elderly professor of theology, while composing a lecture on the meaning of faith, is visited by a woman representing the spirit of doubt within him.
