WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Power! Patriotism! Propaganda!
The driving rock score of The Deciders reveals in song and satire the secrets, dreams, motives and misinformation of those who make the decisions and those who live with the consequences from the Washington Power Elite to Baghdad and beyond.
From the opening song of Riverbend, the Iraqi blogger thanking Condoleezza Rice for making her "Free" to Peace Activist Cindy Sheehan attempting to awaken a nation that has been "Rocked to Sleep," The Deciders is about power - those who have it and those who want it.
Writer/composer Mitch Kess weaves reality with satire to create a paranoid parable of "Dubya," "Dick," "Condi," a "Saddam" double, and the "real" reasons for the Iraq War. In an effort to salvage his legacy, Dubya offers to save Saddam if he will help restore order in Iraq. Saddam agrees, but only if his self-titled musical is given a Broadway run. Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction -- Newsweek reported that the Iraqi National Theater was turning Saddam's first novel, Zabibah and the King into a musical at the time of the U.S. led invasion.
