WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
HoNkBarK! and Vital Theatre Company present The Country Wife, a very naughty tale of lies and seduction. Banned from the stage for almost 200 years, William Wycherley's scandalous satire is as potent today as it was in 1675.
By spreading the rumor of his own impotence, notorious ladies man Harry Horner gains access to the so-called "virtuous" ladies of society who are all too ready to join the fun. Meanwhile, a new husband desperately attempts to hide his naïve country bride from the predatory men of the town. When she and Horner quite literally collide, bawdiness ensues. Sex, lies and hypocricy...some things never go out of style.
In addition to the regular schedule, performances are arranged for:
Monday, January 8 at 8:00pm
Wednesday, January 24 at 8:00pm

The play is filled with comic conventions that were already old in the 17th century, but this is certainly not meant to say they're no longer funny.
The excellent new staging of The Country Wife at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre -- a co-production of two theater companies, HoNkBarK! and Vital -- proves [...]
