The late George Rand, leading citizen of Middleburgh, NY, left a legacy of
success and a closetful of skeletons. When ambitious George, Jr. moves his
mother and sisters to New York City, he fast proves his mettle as a captain
of industry, a suitor to the social elite, and a shoe-in for governor in the
coming election. But then, the truth must out. First, a scandalous
