WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
This is the world premiere of a newly-discovered comedy by Aristophanes...we think. The comedy appears to be over 2000 years old, and this is its first production since its entry in the Dionysian Festival of 424 BCE (Best Director; honorable mention, Best Ensemble Performance).
The play follows Mediocrates as he struggles to find and maintain his artistic identity in the present-day East Village. Mediocrates' life is turned upside-down when his father, Hippocrates, visits and meets the Bohemians; a Greek chorus of East Village inhabitants and artists.
Come see for yourself the piece scholars are debating and calling "shockingly...real!" and "the best thing we've seen from Aristophanes since The Clouds."
