A young Art History professor risks her career to set the record straight about the famous barouque painter Artemisia Gentileschi--unfolding a centuries old story of love, ambition, rape, betrayal, and ultimately Artemisia's triumph as she overturned the prejudices of her time. Marsha Norman serves as mentor for Cybele Pascal's The Allegory of Painting, part of the Cherry Lane Alternative. Leigh Silverman directs.
