WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Accidental Pervert transfered to the 13th Street Rep on July 15. For tickets and more information on that run, click here.

The Accidental Pervert is the story of one boy's odyssey to manhood via a childhood dominated by pornography, an addiction accumulated after the boy happens upon his father's collection of XXX-Rated video tapes in a bedroom closet, just to the right of his golf clubs, above the cowboy boots, behind the sweatshirts, all the way up in the top left hand corner. Andrew Goffman takes his audience on a hilarious and self-deprecating journey into a world of video vixens, X-Rated fantasies, and really DIRTY movies with no redeeming value whatsoever. He found the tapes at 11 years-of-age. The addiction controlled him until he was 26, THE YEAR HE MET HIS WIFE.

Tissues and Issues
This one person play by Andrew Goffman highlights the hypnotic power a solo performance can cast over an audience when the writing and performing of a monodrama by its author/star are equally potent. Mr.Goffman, a stand-up comic, creates a moving and hilarious journey from childhood to young adulthood that tugs at the heart as well as the genitals. In one of the more distinctive, humorous and somewhat distrubing presentations of a father-son connective tissue and tissues rain down on the stage like an autumn snow blizzard, Goffman shows pornography as a key to unlocking his fetid imagination as well as his emotions towards the father who left behind a magic box of Triple X VHS tapes after fleeing a broken marriage. I took my class of York College playwriting students to see this production and their enthrallment with this art form and Goffmans gifts has become the highlight of this semester. This is an extremely funny and moral play about sexual, romantic, paternal and unconditional love, punctuated with sundry cum shots and crowd cheering choreography.

Outrageous, hilarious, bold,, poignant original...
Andy, your body movements, facial expressions, ability to boldly try new, political material, to capture such a varied and not always easy audience was captivating. Comedically, it was 5 star at least. My 89-year-old mother deemed you "spent: by the end and yet you and I cavorted spontaneously on the easy chair. The evening was a sheer delight -- next time Ill bring my "30-10" daughter with me - she may gaffaw the most! You are simply amazing, Andy, full of spunk, risk-taking and boundless energy, Much success in the new venue -- hope to see you next month -- Sue Fallon
