WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Yamabiko Theatrical Company (Yamabiko no Kai) presents the Japanese musical Tales of the Echo (?Yamabiko Monogatari?) written by the late Sawako Ariyoshi in its US debut. The show is directed by Kazuhiko Okamoto, choreographed by You Izumoand with music by Hideya Yamaguchi.
Written in 1975, the musical is for both children and adults to enjoy, and is a story based on well-known traditional Japanese otogibanashi folk tales such as ?The Heavenly Maiden (Tennyo),? ?The Princess of the Sea (Otohime),? ?The Tortoise and the Hare (Usagi to Kame),? ?The Racoon Dog (Tanuki)? and the ?Young Girl and the Echo (Yamabiko).?
The show is performed in English and Japanese.
