Following the passion of two aspiring ballroom dancers in 1911 New York, Syncopation is a touching, funny play about a partnership and the breaking of society's chains through art. Allen Knee's play is set during the transition from Victorian to modern society in America--a raw, experimental time that saw important breakthroughs in the arts, including ballroom dancing which allowed men and women to dance together.
