WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Subtones of Conscious Time is a new monthly music series curated by Nicole Zaray. Each month's theme recalls various paradigm shifts within popular musical history, revives their rotting, pungent corpses, only to stitch them back together as a colossal Frankenstein-esque night of genre-bending performance! Zaray researches and hones each month's theme, and gathers crème de la crème Borough-based musicians to bring it all to life. A never-before-seen cornucopia of fresh talent and bizarre musical bents.

SCHEDULE

September 8, 2006

"Welcome to My Salon"

Sultry, medieval, electro-living-room-music to ring in the Fall. Brighty colored leaves, intimate gatherings, new romance, contemplative moments, exclusive, sophisticated house parties - all of which accurately describe the Autumnal vibe.

For the premiere event of SubTones of Conscious Time, Collective: Unconscious is bringing together 16th and 21st century musical forms intended for intimate settings. Pour yourself a jug of mead, put up your feet and be mesmerized by the ambient compositions of Jeremy Slater, Vermeer-inspired Baroque love songs from Sofia Dimitrova, philosophical trip-hop of Nicole Zaray, and the not-to-be-missed viola and voice ensemble Choralous with Holly Mentzer. Leave in a rosy-cheeked trance at the witching hour, ready for new beginnings.
