Compelling story, beautifully acted, brilliantly directed.

I stumbled upon this darkly funny gem at the Fringe Festival headquarters overhearing two people talking about the direction. And I have to agree that this might be some of the finest directing I've seen in a Festival show, by a "Fringe veteran" Dann Fink. The play is written by a 17 year old, Max Friedlich - an emerging and naturally gifted teenage playwright. He has an excellent ear for dialogue, and his teenage characters are brought to life by the vibrant actors Jared Kemp and Brandon Reilly, and the adult actors Brandy Zarle and Marcus Maurice are just as captivating. But I have to credit Mr. Fink his due for the masterful visuals and staging and (as other reviews have pointed out), "the humanity and nuances" he brought out in his actors. This is what truly what turns this play into a spellbinding and very emotional evening in the theatre. This risky and very dark material always comes to life with energy and humor yet we never lose the realism and emotional truths. And a big Bravo to the designers for a beautiful and perfectly appointed set and costumes! A must see for FringeNYC 2012!
