WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
"Body! Why don't I recognize you? Why is everything changing?"
skinny crazy small is the chronicle of one quirky and strong-willed girl's battle with anorexia nervosa. Enlisting the help of famous women throughout history, all of whom suffered from either anorexia or bulimia themselves, the play's young protagonist challenges the stigmas and stereotypes that surround eating disorders.
Inspired by events in the life of creator and performer Sylvie Mae Baldwin, "skinny crazy small" sparks discussion and transports audience members unfamiliar with the disease to anorexia's frontlines.
"Baldwin's performance demonstrates her malleability," says The Daily. "She seamlessly transitions between different character roles and…does not hold back in her vulnerability." After a celebrated premiere in Seattle, WA last May, skinny crazy small takes the stage this April at NYC's Theaterlab.
All performances will be followed by a post-play discussion.
