Can an overweight middle-aged woman find redemption by posing nude for an art class? Hypothetical Theatre Company presents the American premiere of Amy Rosenthal's Sitting Pretty. Corporate down-sizing has left Nancy sitting paralyzed on the sofa. Her helplessness is acutely contrasted with the superficial confidence of her twitchy sister, Nina. Then, Nancy becomes a nude model for a figurative art class, lying naked on a bed in front of strangers...and loving it! This modern Pygmalion story is a play to warm the heart and tickle the soul. Aviva Jane Carlin (of Jodie's Body fame) stars in this production, directed by Amy Feinberg. On March 7, Maureen Lipman, the prominent British TV film and theater actress, takes over a principal part in her daughter's play.
