Judith Shakespeare Company presents Love's Labors Lost in "Shakespeare Unplugged" Concert Performance. Artistic Director Joanne Zipay directs one of Shakepeare's most romantic comedies. The performance will feature an original piano score, composed by renowned jazz artist Jeremy Wall.

Love's Labors Lost tells the story of the King of Navarre and his court of three young men, who swear they will speak to no women during their three-year "academy" study period. However, no sooner have they made their vow than the Princess of France and her court of three young women arrive on a diplomatic mission which cannot be avoided. Suddenly love is everywhere, as the young men try desperately to hide it from each other and maintain the impression that they have kept their oaths. Don Armado, an extravagant Spaniard, falls in love with the local dairy maid, and as sonnets and love letters are passed to the wrong lover and read aloud, confusion reigns among the play's many eccentric characters. One of Shakespeare's richest language plays, Love's Labors Lost has both beautiful poetry and robust humor, as well as a conclusion that will take you by surprise.

The "Shakespeare Unplugged" Concert Performance is a unique format developed by Artistic Director Joanne Zipay and the JSC company over the last nine years. It focuses on clear storytelling utilizing essential visual elements, live music, and actors on book.
