The year is 1954. As Senator Joseph McCarthy battles the red menace in Washington, D.C., the rest of America tunes into TV's top rated morning show, Sunrise Cinema, with Mr. & Mrs. Matinee, where the 1935 gangster melodrama Say Your Prayers, Mug!, comes to life on stage.
