WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
American Playwrights Theatre, a troupe of professional playwrights, actors and directors, will explore several aspects of love when they present, Romantic Entanglements: Three Short Comedies on Love. The program's three plays, penned by prize-winning authors dedicated to the Theater Arts will include:
The Sasmann Aesthetic: This piece takes place in the office of a female psychiatrist who is trying to determine whether a dismissed college instructor should be tried for his obsession with kissing women's buttocks on the beach. When the doctor inadvertently reveals her own interest in the male physique, the consequences are hilarious.
World Enough and Time: This play pairs an intellectual young man enamored of Andrew Marvell's love poetry with a romantically inclined but dull-witted office clerk he has met through a personal dating ad. The two end up in an entanglement rife with possibilities.
Damaged Goods: This last piece presents a classic money-vs-love triangle, with an elderly widower, his attractive housekeeper and his greedy son. When the son?s scheme backfires, the outcome can only bring heartwarming accolades from the audience.
