The award winning Latino theatre company for young audiences, SEA, Society of the Educational Arts/Sociedad Educativa de las Artes, under the artistic direction of Manuel A. Morán, presents the world premiere of Ricitos y Los 3 Ositos/ Ricitos and The 3 Bears. Goldilocks and the adorable Three Bears make their bilingual (performed in Spanish & English simultaneously) debut in New York at Teatro SEA on April 16th.
In this spirited retelling of the familiar tale, a feisty Ricitos (Goldilocks) gets lost while wandering through the woods and stumbles across a vacant house. Her irrepressible curiosity gets her into more trouble than she's bargained for when she enters the three bears' house uninvited. Her mischievous behavior leads her on a quest to find the perfect bowl of porridge, the perfect chair, and finally, the perfect bed for a nap. Unbeknownst to her, her reckless mishaps leave a trail of clues which only serve as evidence, as the Bear family returns home to unravel this mystery. This is when the traditional elements of the original story are jazzed up with plenty of pleasant surprises which gives this rendition a fresh new charm.
The Bear family: Mr. Oscar, Mrs. Osaura, and little Oscarito and a comical cast of characters, actually they are the appliances, Mr. Grandfather Clock, Ms. Stove and Mr. Refrigerator, take audiences on a "comedy of errors" adventure, as Ricitos finally confronts the three bears and has to learn to take responsibility, say sorry and to make friends. Parents and children alike will treasure this refreshing version with original songs, sets and customs for many years to come. Don't miss this unique opportunity to join SEA in one unforgettable season of New York's ONLY Latino Children's Theatre, where the New York Daily News says "Children's Theater at its best! BRAVO Company for Kids!" and where NBC says "...fabulous performances!"
