WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Ramayana 2k3, based on the epic Hindu tale, is the latest creation by the Fabulous Monsters Performance Group from Los Angeles. The piece is performed as an electronic dance drama, directed by Robert A. Prior, and choreographed by Stephen Hues.
The production features a cast of 21 (playing countless roles from goddesses to warriors, and from demons to monkeys) in this modern retelling of the 2,000 year-old Hindu myth by Indian poet Valmiki.

Whether tumbling through the air, battling on stilts, or wrapping their bodies around each other in sensuous movements, the performers of Ramayana 2K3 create a visual feast. The Ramayana is one of the oldest and most widely known of the world's myths; a foundation of Hindu culture, it tells the story of the god Vishnu, come to Earth in human form to combat the evil Ravana, whose powers protect him from the gods but who might still be brought down by mortal man.
