WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

World-renowned literary giant, Bertolt Brecht, was an innovator of 20th century theatre, and at the beginning of the 21st century, The Variant Theatre Company demonstrates how these plays of our world's history remain relevant and effective. Strange, eccentric, and told with critical wit and humor, these tales of the everyday are the commonplace and ordinary in an age of confusion and horror. With an ensemble cast of 9 actors, Private Lives of the Third Reich investigates the effects of fear, denial, and paranoia as lived by the citizens of the Third Reich.

In The Jewish Wife, a Jewish wife packs to leave her Aryan husband and life in Germany for the springtime of Austria. In the court case of In Search of Justice, a verdict must be pronounced between a Jewish jewelry store owner and three S.A. men, as the events of the case unfold, it becomes clear, that in the corrupt world of Nazi Germany, there is no place for justice. After making contemptuous remarks about the Nazi government, the schoolmaster and his wife suddenly notice their son's disappearance, and after spiraling through events of panic and denial, they come to the ultimate conclusion that their son is The Informer.
