WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Mahesh Dattani's On a Muggy Night in Mumbai apprears as part of the Festival of Indian Theatre. The action of the show moves between the present and the past, and involves Kamlesh, a successful designer in Mumbai, and his relationships with his ex-lover Prakash, his sister Kiran, and her fiance Ed. The play is a tragicomedy that finds its main characters grappling both privately and publicly with issues of love, sexual identity, family honor, and societal obligations. The show has been performed steadily in Bombay since its premiere in 1998.
