The United States in 2030 is not the place it once was. We are no longer a superpower, our economy is teetering on the brink and, most significant of all, in the wake of the Patriot and Defense of Marriage Acts, numerous laws have been enacted that alter many American's basic rights - and not always for the best. The show was envisioned by playwright Mary E. Goulet and directed by Jesse L. Kearney, Jr.

A believer in privacy for individuals, American Alice Simone does not particularly like the United States. Since before she was born, the country, beginning with the Defense of Marriage Act - which forbids marriage between other than a man and a woman - has been slowly eroding the personal rights of its citizens. In the 23 years since her birth it has become forbidden for a couple to divorce if they have a minor child; all married couples have been tagged with identifying marks; and it is forbidden for married and unmarried people of different sexes to gather together in social settings (it might lead to adultery). Once Alice finishes her final year of law school, she plans to do what so many of her countrymen have done before her; renounce her American citizenship and live and work abroad.
