WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Oh!Yantay, an Inca tale, was the first play known to be performed in the Americas, passed down orally from generation to generation. New York audiences will experience a rare treat in Walter Ventosilla's fresh new adaptation of this classic Inca tale. A combination of intense drama and comedic buffoonery, the play tells the story of Ollantay, a warrior who defies the Inca King by falling in love with his daughter, the Princess Cusi Coyllur. This betrayal sends the empire into a state of chaos. What ensues is a mythic tale of passion, rebellion, and ultimately forgiveness. Never before seen on the New York stage, a vivid and powerful portrayal of Inca culture comes to life with Walter Ventosilla's imaginative staging. The company of bilingual actors comes from all over Latin America providing a unique look into a magical time. Complete with masks, and live Andean music, Oh!Yantay is a rich and vibrant sensory experience.
