WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Slivers Oakley Story presented by the New York Goofs and the Bat Theatre Company present a workshop production of NOSES OFF. The story set in 1916, follows Frank "Silvers" Oakley who earned an astounding $740 a week performing as a solo clown with the Greatest Show on Earth. The Ringling Brothers had gobbled up most of the circuses in America, including Barnum & Bailey. Mr. Ringling felt that the solo clown slowed down the pace of his three ring extravaganza, so he hired 25 inexperienced buffoons and said goodbye to one of the greatest clowns of all time. American circus clowning has never been the same since.-dlm
