No Sex Please We're British is a gas!
by wordofmouth on Wednesday, Jul 22nd, 2009 at 1:15 pmAfter seeing PharePlays Arsenic and Old Lace I decided to check out No Please Were British and I thought it was a gas! With its fast pace and quick witted humor, it kept me laughing throughout the show. A train wreck of mishaps insue when a newly married couple, Peter and Frances, accidently receive porn at their apartment just above the bank Peter works at. What happens when the couple try hiding the porn from Peters visiting mother Elenor and boss Mr. Bromhead is nothing short of hilarious, all the while using Brian, Peters co-worker, as a scape-goat. Other notable characters are Mr. Needham the bank inspector who gets caught up in the chaos, Vernon Paul the nosey police officer and the Susan and Barbara the frisky call girls brought in by the porn company to stir things up! Though the subject matter is rated x the content is nothing more than light humorous FUN! See it before it ends- at The Chernuchin Theater!

No Sex Please, We're British
by movieman on Monday, Jul 20th, 2009 at 3:17 pmI saw this show last night at the Chenuchin Theatre in the American Theatre of Actors. I expected the show just to be silly..it was silly but it was better than just a silly sex farce. The acting was really good. Especially Tom Hodgskin as Peter A delightfully put upon man in a bad situation, Dan Hermann as Arnold Needham A man who wants to sleep and Karen Brelsford as Susan a woman who is a gift for being a good customer It may not be the deepest play in New York right now but the laughs in the second act make this a strong fun show. 3.5/5stars
I laughed so hard I cried
by ApplePerformer on Monday, Jul 20th, 2009 at 3:06 pmLaughing is good for the soul. This show will fill you up for the week.
The cast was so great in their comedic timing that the show was almost flawless. I was amazed of how fast paced the entire show was especially at the end.
I dont know what kind of training the main players have but this performance is a credit to their training and talent. "Peter", Tom Hodgskin, and "Frances", Gretchen Ferris, play the perfect young couple trying to keep their world from unraveling while everyone else keeps pulling it apart. The physical comedy of the two prostitutes, "Susan", Karen Brelsford, and "Barbara", Melita Camilo, was impeccable.
Unfortunately, this show end this Sunday. Go see it before it closes. You will have a great time.
RE:Hysterically Funny!
by AlexMatthew on Monday, Jul 20th, 2009 at 8:10 amI got the chance to see this show at its opening on Saturday afternoon. It was everything you could want in a farce! Tight pacing, great character work and of course, improbable situations involving prostitutes! What more does a British farce need? Particularly good was the actress who played Frances the wife and the actor who played the sidekick Brian. Both had impeccable timing. In general the ensemble was solid. You should see this show if you get the chance. Not only is it really good, but its a bargain price wise!
