In 1829 star actor-manager Edwin Forrest put out the call for new plays to capture the American Spirit. The first answer was the remarkable Metamora.

In this fast-paced tragedy conniving English settlers go to war against a noble savage and his tribe, and not only the settlement of the New World but the true love of virtuous innocents hangs in the balance.
