Montague & Clark present Mary Berry Presents: The Life of Mary Berry as part of the 10th annual New York International Fringe Festival.
The show introduces audiences to a highly dysfunctional family. Between their conversations to God, house full of products still in their original packaging and daily heaping doses of bran cereal, the Berry family finds plenty of ways to get under each other's skin. When Mary discovers her father's Playboy magazine, her eyes are opened to a glamorous world beyond the Berry household, full of mansions and perfect complexions. She sets out for Hollywood certain that she can be the next Miss 4th of July centerfold, leaving behind the Berry residence in a chaos of marital affairs, homophobes, haikus, lobsters, bran cereal and a new son/lover fresh from Brazil.
The absurd comedy was written by William Brian Smith and won the Sam Selden prize for playwriting at UNC Chapel Hill in 2005 while Smith was a student there.
