WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

92nd Street Y presents two shows in honor of the civil rights legend. On Sunday, Jan. 16 at 5:00 P.M. there will be a dance performance entitled I BELIEVE. Former Katherine Dunham dancer and Afro-Caribbean dance specialist Dana Manno curates a program celebrating the African-American experience and looks ahead to the 21st century.
On Monday Jan. 17 at 8:00 P.M. there will be a literary reading of AMERICAN SLAVE NARRATIVES by esteemed actor James Earl Jones. The works include pieces from 1772 to 1864 by Nat Turner, Fredrick Douglass, William Wells Brown, Henry Bibb, Sojourner Truth and others.-dlm
