WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Prophets Among Us presents the world premiere of Alicia Mathewson's gospel and pop infused musical Love According to Luc. This dramatic new musical about faith, love, and sexuality features music and lyrics by Mathewson, direction by Stephen Tomac and musical direction by Allison Leyton-Brown.
Love According to Luc is the musical story of Lucretia Crowell, a lesbian seminarian struggling to find her voice in a Christian church that won't ordain her. When she reveals her new relationship to her pastor, she is advised to remain in the closet if she wants to be ordained. Meanwhile, her lover challenges her to speak the truth. For the first time, Luc is faced with defining her own voice and relationship with God, risking the loss of her lover or her life-long dream to be a pastor.
There is an additional matinee at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 26.

Love According to Luc is bursting with potential. The new pop- and gospel- inflected musical by Alicia Mathewson has a compelling storyline. It's a complex treatment of socially relevant issues and it features a powerful performance by Marissa McGowan in the title role. Unfortunately, the show is also beset by a number of problems that make it seem more like a very promising workshop production than a fully realized musical.
