WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Set in the 1950's and directed by guest director, Patrick Scherrer, Lost is the story of Walter Uhlan (Lee Solomon), a man lost in New York City who has forgotten who he is, where he comes from and, perhaps most importantly, why his identity is even worth remembering in the first place. As we follow Walter for one day on his episodic journey through twenty-eight New York City locations, ranging from busy subway stations to dingy nightclubs to cold hospital beds, we also visit Walter's past and future through an array of characters that make up an eleven player ensemble, an ensemble that not once leaves the stage. Their realistic, purpose- driven omnipresence of both improvised and choreographed movement creates Walter's world through movement and space and will leave the audience not only in awe of the art of live theatre, but also in awe of the irony that surrounds the concept of loneliness in the Big Apple.

Enjoyable!
This is a small company operating on a low budget, working with a bare stage and a stack of milk crates for props. But they make it work! The story features a man with amnesia wandering a NYC of several decades ago, and the slowly-revealed details of his story. What makes it come alive is the clever staging, in which this troupe manages to create a downtown bar, a hotel, and even a bus to Philadelphia with nothing but those milk crates and enthusiasm. If you enjoy seeing what NYCs young artists are up to, check this out. Yes, its off-off Broadway in a little basement theater, but its a lovely way to spend an evening!
