WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Holed up in a messy living room where newspapers litter the floor and clothes are constantly ironed but no one ever changes, the abusive but strangely irresistible Jimmy Porter, his quiet and vulnerable wife Alison, and their sympathetic friend Cliff enact a complex dance of anger, frustration, and desire. One Year Lease, founded by Vassar College graduates in 2000, presents John Osborne's classic play, Look Back in Anger. Written at a time of economic stagnation when young people especially saw few opportunities for growth and no hope for influencing the political world around them--a situation very similar to that of today--the play is a timely look at human relationships.
