John Osborne's Look Back in Anger grew out of frustration with a world that allowed for the atrocities of war. Through the creation of Jimmy Porter, the first Anti-protagonist to appear in Western Drama, Osborne paints a blatant and detailed picture of post-World War II England. Porter sees hope in a hopeless world and rages at his dissatisfaction, yet remains inert when change is necessary.
