WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Wake Up Marconi! presents Look Back in Anger on the play's 50th Anniversary. A sponsored project of not-for-profit Fractured Atlas and hailed by The New York Times as the "most vivid play of the decade," Look Back in Anger slugs through the depths of human inner currents displaying a truth, a rottenness and rage of a so-called happy existence. Look Back in Anger takes on the issues of class, idleness, and the effects of war on an entire culture with brutal frankness. With this play, John Osborne was able to shock audiences and propel theatre in a direction not seen before. Unfortunately, the unspoken, suffocating divisions of early 1950's London are still pervasive -- with this production, Wake Up, Marconi! hopes to jolt audiences out of their comforting complacency, to encourage them to regard the status quo with skepticism, to view the future uncompromising, and, yes, to look back in anger.

Additional matinee Saturday, May 13 at 2pm.
