Viennese dancer/choreographer Sher-Maccherndl and Tervamaki first met when the ballerina appeared in the Chautauqua Summer Series in Boulder, Colorado. Liquid-Space, an hour-long flow of duets and solos, was originally premiered in Colorado with Sher-Maccherndl and Simone Messmer of ABT, but when setting the work on Tervamaki, Sher-Machherndl traveled to Finland to rehearse with the ballerina, perfectly tailoring the dance to her very special talents. The result is a stylish, inspired work that investigates the dramatic combination of movement, sound and silence.
