WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The OBIE Award-winning Ma-Yi Theatre Company presents the NY premiere of Alice Tuan's Last of the Suns, directed by Chay Yew. The play is is a biting satire set in the mind of a 100-year-old ex-Nationalist Chinese General and revolves around three generations of the Sun Family and traverses a thorny American landscape where past meets present and the exploitation of women takes many forms, from foot-binding to ice-skating. Tuan uses street-wise and fantastical language to blend Chinese folklore with the banalities of American consumerism.
