WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Palestinian/Jewish conflict in the Middle East is poignantly explored in this retelling of the "Romeo and Juliet" story, in which a Palestinian peace activist meets and falls in love with a Russian-Jewish immigrant to Israel. Inspired by the terrible image of a Palestinian man, clutching his small son, crushed against a wall in Gaza while bullets flew by, Douglas Lackey's Khaddish in East Jerusalem is a powerful indictment against the suffering and mindlessness of war.
