WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Karla, a new play written by the legendary Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter, Steve Earle, is about Karla Faye Tucker, a woman who was sentenced to death and executed in 1998, for a double homicide. Karla was the first woman in Texas to receive the death penalty and have it carried out since the Civil War. The play concerns the events in her life leading up to the murder and her conversion to Christianity while serving time on Death Row. The cast of five includes Obie award winning actress, Jodie Markell as Karla. The play is directed by Bruce Kronenberg.
