WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Julianne Caesar, by David Starkey, is a hilarious and incisive new play that centers on the conflict between Julianne and Megan, two student actors at Connie Francis College, an exclusive all-female institution in Southern California. When Megan wins the coveted role of Brutus in the college's production of Julius Caesar, a long-simmering feud between the two explodes throwing the whole theatre department into the conflagration. Throughout Julianne Caesar, brief scenes from Shakespeare's most "masculine" play parallel, contradict, and complicate the actions of the contemporary female characters leading to a darkly comic twist on the original. James Duff directs.
Part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival.
