WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Flying Machine presents the world-premiere of its newest work, Journey to the End of the Night.
Journey to the End of the Night is adapted from the life and best-known novel of the 20th-century existentialist author Louis-Ferdinand Céline, a revered and controversial writer who suffered enmity and rejection for his political beliefs during World War II. The Flying Machine's production of Journey to the End of the Night intersects the story of its author, Céline, with that of his antihero, Ferdinand Bardamu, during the First World War and its aftermath. His later dubiously motivated actions, however, may have erased this hard won artistic title and closed the history books on one of this century's greatest literary gems.
Richard Crawford is the featured performer in this solo-play adaptation of Journey to the End of the Night.
Box Office Hours: One hour prior to show time.

French novelist Louis-Ferdinand Céline was one of the more influential writers of the 20th Century, affecting the works of authors such as William Burroughs, Jean Genet, Henry Miller, Jean Paul Sartre, and Charles Bukowski. However, his reputation has languished due to his virulently anti-Semitic writings during World War II and suspicions that he collaborated with the Nazis. The Flying Machine's uneven production of Jason Lindner's Journey to the End of the Night, currently at the Gene Frankel Theater, adapts Céline's most famous novel while also exploring the controversy that adversely affected his life and position in literary history.
