WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Bread and Puppet Theatre presents a Public Participation Uprising: The Insurrection Mass with Funeral March for a Rotten Idea: A Special Mass for the Aftermath of the Events of September 11th. The event is a nonreligious service in the presence of several paper maché gods. The Mass comes complete with secular scripture readings, a fiddle sermon and hymns in which the public is invited to participate. The Mass is celebrated in 10 movements: (1) Population Produces Paper Maché Gods (2) Introduction Of The Gods (3) Opening Prayer (4) Hymn Of The Day (5) Insurrection Oratorio (6) Scripture Reading Of The Day (7) Processing The Day?s Scripture In Hell (8) Receiving The Rotten Idea Of The Day From The Mouth Of Hell (9) Sermon Of The Day (10) Funeral March For Rotten Idea.
