WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Dead Umbrella presents In Your Shoes: a one-woman multi-character mystery, written and performed by Nadia Bowers. An imaginative exploration of how someone else's death can remind us why we're living, the solo performance explores the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of schizophrenic 70s folk singer, Virginia Lovejoy, and the impact her life and music had on a young, emotionally unstable woman named Margo.

Using video, original music, seven characters, and several pairs of shoes, the play follows Margo on the day she decides to end her own life. Teetering on the edge of her bathtub, she slowly unearths the true nature of Lovejoy's death 30 years prior -- was it truly accidental? Was it suicide or was it murder? And will discovering the reasons behind Lovejoy's death give her sufficient reason not to end her own life?

Erica Schmidt (Debbie Does Dallas) serves as the production's script supervisor.
