WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Napatree, Rhode Island, 1938: As the tourist season comes to a close, a young meteorologist's unconventional prediction of impending disaster goes unheeded by his superiors, resulting in one of New England's greatest natural catastrophes. With a vibrant score by award-winning songwriter Michael Holland which incorporates elements of Depression-era pop, folk opera, and contemporary song, this epic musical portrait captures an all-but-forgotten moment in American history, one that ultimately emerges as a testament to hope, endurance, rebirth, and survival.

RE:Let's Hope This Storm Passes Quickly
When you title a musical ?Hurricane,? you should probably expect unimpressed and mean-spirited critics to say: ?It blows. It really blows.? ?Katrina victims had more fun than I did.? ?Amazing amounts of hot air.? ?I couldn?t wait for the storm to hit.? I hope that?s what these critics will say. This ambitious bag-of-wind project, with a cast of 30 half of whom are ghosts and children has more homespun American goodness than Quaker Oats. But Quaker Oats is good, and never made me barf. I had to leave the theater at intermission. Act One was soooo boring and had so many uninteresting songs that I needed a gust of fresh air to awake me from my torpor. I would?ve gone back for Act Two, but life is too short. Here?s hoping that ?Hurricane? blows off to sea forever. It blows. It really blows.
