WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
If your head were a piñata, what would you find inside? Racoco Productions reprises its first NYC season of uniquely theatrical dance, How Many Licks? "Piñata masks", an upside-down ballet and "Divas playing a game of Twister" comprise a twisted suite that chronicles the exhilaration and desperation inherent in Birthdays. This cheerfully demented event rollicks to music from a $1 cassette of the Yorkshire Classic Brass, featuring British composer Barry Russell.
The evening also includes two of Racoco's first works incorporating signature unusual materials. "Of My Eye" is a syncopated, off-kilter quintet for people fumbling to connect by means of that time-honored offering - the apple, and "Looks Good On Paper" is a solo commissioned by Christine Jowers/Moving Arts projects featuring a woman trapped in a giant paper gown. Fun for all ages!
