WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Herencia de Amor y Sangre (A Legacy of Love and Blood) uses "magic realism," a melding of the mundane and the surreal, to explore the relationship between a mother and her daughter who have immigrated to New York City from Puerto Rico. They have come to New York to start a new life, but are not able to leave their emotional baggage behind. Dark secrets and a history of abuse imprison the women in the mindsets of their previous lives. Their story is one of poverty, violence and loneliness, but also one of hope, peace and redemption.
