WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, produced by Mortals Theater and Brooklyn Stage Company, is a site-specific theatrical in an old, hollowed out bank, located on Court Street in Brooklyn, which closed in 1929 just after the Depression hit. The play is set in 2009 - modern dress - but with touches of the late 1920's and early 1930's. The stone exterior of the space doubles for Elsinore Castle. Cuts have been made to further internalize the corruption. The piece is presented simply, based on the bloodlusty Revengers' Tragedies, popular in Shakespeare's era.
