Putting a comic twist on French history, Goodtime Charley is a musical comedy that recalls the classic tale of Joan of Arc and Charles VII, the Dauphin of France. Charley was indeed, "The Man Who Wouldn't Be King," content to court the ladies and play mallet ball until Joan convinced him it was God's will that he wear the French crown.
