WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

All Out Arts and New Village Productions presents the Second Annual International Lower East Side LGBT Arts Festival- a celebration of culture off the mainstream known as Fresh Fruit Festival 2004. This festival celebrates the diversity of the LGBT community, beyond the stereotype (and TV friendly) middle class white men that are funny. Fresh Fruit consists of theatre, music, book readings, art and parties running everyday for two weeks at the Milagro Theater at the CSV. All musical performances are at either Arlene's Grocery (99 Stanton St. btwn. Ludlow and Orchard) or Sidewalk Café (94 Avenue A). July 11 at 8 PM: "Tangy, Tasty, Fruity Tunes": An Evening of Queer music: Curator: Justin Tranter for Outmusic (Donation Only] at the Sidewalk Café -94 Ave. A at 6th Street July 12: At 6 PM: FRESH FRUIT GALA: Art Opening - "Fresh Fruit's Show": LGBT Visual artists curated by Artgroup - Then at 7 PM, Reading: My Mother Told Me I Was Different: Voices of Stonewall written by Carol Polcovar: Eyewitness accounts of rebellion. After the reading; "Taste of the Lower East Side" Food from Lower East Side vendors and restaurant! Admission: $45 for the Gala. July 13 at 7 PM: Open Mike and Party: Sign up, Shout out! - Admission $5 + a guest July 13 at 9 PM & July 15 at 7 PM: Cucumber Dreams: Michael Cross Burke: sex, gay monkeys and cucumbers. Admission $15 July 14 at 7 PM: "Fast Girls, Goddesses and Kumquats": An evening of Women's Poetry: Curator: Susan Sherman. Admission $7.
