Taken from actual accounts of Katrina survivors (two of whom relate their own experiences in the production), these monologues introduce us to an overwhelmed relief worker, a 55 year-old man and his ordeal at the New Orleans Convention Center, a 32 year-old woman who, receiving no help from the military, tries to find her own way out of the devastated area, an elderly gentlemen trying to get back home months after the Hurricane has passed, and a Syrian businessman who's lived in the U.S. for over 30 years and who's now a guest at a Louisiana correctional facility for "security reasons." Fleeing Katrina is a series of monologues tracing the odysseys of eight lives scattered in the wake of one of America's most epic natural disasters. It is presented as part of the 7th Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival.
