WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Evolution follows Henry on a journey to Los Angeles with Hope, the love of his life. When his uncanny pop-culture illiteracy becomes the fuel for an unexpected career in the entertainment industry, Henry must choose between celebrity-culture success or academic obscurity, between embracing ambition and losing Hope.

Plays about Hollywood have changed. They used to be biting satires of the movie industry; now, they're satiric swipes at television. Case in point: Evolution by Jonathan Marc Sherman. Fortunately, Sherman is an unusually talented writer with a sweeping sense of the fundamental absurdity of what passes for humankind, so he simply cannot limit his barbs to the boob tube. In the blistering attack on modern man (and woman) that is presently playing downstairs at 45 Bleecker, he skewers everything from academia to pop culture. And his biggest target is probably himself -- or, at least, his fictional stand-in, played by the estimable Josh Hamilton.
