Don't Tell Mother is an off-beat, domestic comedy about the Rooney family - a once politically connected clan from Albany, New York with a lot of secrets to hide. The play takes place in the present, during Thanksgiving weekend when American families traditionally reunite to relax in each other's company. However, this Thanksgiving the Rooneys will face a major challenge to that tradition as they're confronted by the most harrowing of their secrets in a way that threatens to break the fragile bonds that have held them together as a family for forty years. Using a playful mix of realism and fantasy Don't Tell Mother explores the delicate nature of family relationships, and how difficult it often is to really know the people we long to be closest to. Is there something of the Rooney Clan in all of us?
